Research Directions

The Department addresses its research and educational interests towards the following general directions:

1. Structural and industrial materials: Synthesis, characterization and processing of metals and alloys, ceramics and glasses, and composite materials.
2. Engineering of electronic materials and simulations and modeling of materials' properties and designing: Semiconductors, magnetic materials, superconductors, optical materials.
3. Engineering of functional polymeric materials and materials in medicine: Polymers (including also petrochemicals, lubricants, paints) and materials for biomedical applications.
4. Mechanical engineering of materials and quality control.
